DEATH, MY FRIEND

Death—I gave it little thought,

Yet He, kindly, thought of me.

Nestled within my frame

From the cradle to the grave,

Together on life’s path

Toward eternity.

Through the heights and through the depths,

In days of good and days of ill,

He was my constant companion.

In the sunlight, my shadow;

In my joys, my fears.

But now, at the end of my life’s journey,

He is my friend, bestowing peace and rest on me.

Because I Could Not Stop for Death

He Kindly stopped for me
